Well, that didn't work.
The month of NO pretty much turned quickly into the month of NO MONEY. It was a good idea and we did a pretty good job at keeping up with our lists of NO's, but then... DUN DUN DUN!! I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes and it all went in the pooper.
Diabetes is expensive, y'all. And a pretty major bummer.
That being said, I am good, the baby is good. But please don't be surprised if I am back in a couple of months to report that a giant baby came out of me, because at this point that is the most likely scenario. At my last doctors appointment, the doc mentioned something about an 11 lb baby a few times. Uh, yikes!
But at the moment, the kid is only on the high side of normal size-wise. So, good!
Now there are possible complications or dire outcomes, but we are not dwelling on that at the moment. We are being positive. We are distracting ourselves with low carb ice cream bars and thin crust pizza. We poking ourselves with needles and chasing numbers on a graph. We are doing our damnedest to let go of our imagined pregnancy and deal with the one we got.
We aren't always doing 100% on all that. Sometimes we are beating ourselves up for being a fatty and not paying attention to our glucose numbers prior to getting knocked up. But we are getting better about that.
Anyhoo...
I am shooting up insulin and testing my blood 4 times a day. When first diagnosed I never thought I would be able to give myself a shot, but I can. And it is not that bad.
Timmy is still being the most awesome amazing husband ever. He gives me my last shot before bed and makes me lots of delicious low carb meals. He runs all over town getting prescriptions and supplies. All while finishing getting things ready for the kid at home and being super sexy.
I am gearing up for a craft show at the end of September (actually the weekend before my due date so, I won't be attending!) in St. Louis and gathering lots of supplies, but need to actually start making things. Wouldn't it be nice if my crafting actually added to our income instead of sucking it all away? I am excited for a couple of new crafts I am planning, I will definitely try to post the results. Maybe I will actually get something produced over the weekend!
But I am not making any promises because we have plans to go to the fair this weekend to look at cows and eat a corn-dog. So we'll be pretty busy!
